Specification for AOV Hub-Cutter to be used in Immunization Programme Description of Function: The AOV Hub Cutter is a portable, needle hub destruction device. The device is designed to cut the syringe needle & the hub and enclose the needle in one shot Product Benefits and Features. AOV make Simple Convenient User Friendly. Hub and needle of syringe were cut in one shot. Cuts needle at the hub no needle sharps remaining on the syringe after the cut. Separates needle and syringe at the point-of-use. Minimal splatter Puncture-resistant container. Encloses needles securely in the hard plastic container Convenience does not require electricity to operate. It is manual Cuts and holds 400-600 needles, depending on needle size. Easy to dispose can be incinerated or buried in pit The container shall be translucent in color. 10 nos of inner polythene bag is provided inside container. Shape: The shape of the container will be such that the lid is tightened with the body with a twist and cannot be opened by pulling the lid and the body in the opposite direction. The container containing the cut hub along with needle of various size will be ¾ full when filled with 500 cut hub with needles. The cutting blade of the cutter will be made of stainless steel .The thickness of the blade will not be less than 0.5 mm with one side sharpen to cut minimum of 40,000 cuts. The sharp container should be made of Polypropylene (PP) 4 mm thick and is to be white/translucent. The material should be autoclavable plastics, puncture resistant, high drop impact strength, material should be non-toxic and pyrogen free, the material will not wear out with normal usage. Capacity range: Able to destroy from hub of AD syringe with needles from 18-28 gauge diameter and from 10-25 mm length and fitted with all types of needle fittings, eg, fixed luer lock, luer ship of snap-on Handling: Able to be carried in one hand and portable. How to use: 1.insert the plastic bag into the container turn it over the rim and close the container. 2. Insert the syringe with the mounted needle in the needle cutter slot next move the blade handle along the indicated direction till the end of destroy the needle. 3. Next remove the syringe which is now with a destroyed needle. 4. Now insert the syringe into the Hub Cutting Slot and move the blade handle all the way to destroy the hub.
